WWWE Logo Processor-Intensive

processor-intensive applications require a lot of work on the part of the processor, or CPU (central processing unit, the part of the computer that interprets and follows instructions). Applications that take advantage of the CPU's power or that take priority over other applications could also be classified as processor-intensive. Heavy-duty graphics programs or multimedia CD-ROMs are examples of software that fall under the processor-intensive category.
